    Design festivals Milan design week, DesignMarch and Boston Design Week are among the architecture and design events featured in Dezeen Events Guide this April.

    Other events taking place during the month include Expo 2025 Osaka and the conference Architecture Matters.

    Architecture Matters
    2 to 3 April, Germany

    The Architecture Matters conference hosts its ninth edition this year, presenting a two-day programme of keynotes, panel discussions and workshops.

    The 2025 edition follows the theme “less, but better” addressing bureaucracy in architecture and construction, from regulations to sustainability efforts.

    16 speakers are participating in the conference, including architects, business leaders and academics.

    DesignMarch
    2 to 6 April, Iceland

    Annual festival DesignMarch presents its latest edition, exploring a range of disciplines, including graphic, fashion, textile, landscape, product design.

    The festival invites visitors to attend exhibitions, workshops and talks across 10 districts in Reykjavík.

    Dezeen has partnered with DesignMarch for its talks programme DesignTalks, with designers, architects, philosophers and artists leading discussions on technology, heritage and community.

    Milan design week
    7 to 13 April, Italy

    The largest design event each year, Milan design week expects to hosts hundreds of activities in April, collectively known as fuorisalone.

    Alongside the fringe events, the festival welcomes the Salone del Mobile design fair for its 63rd edition, which presents the biennial Euroluce lighting exhibition.

    Each year, Dezeen launches a digital guide to the festival, which this year is accompanied by an interactive map to help visitors navigate their way around Milan.

    Expo 2025 Osaka
    13 April to 13 October, Japan

    Global event Expo 2025 Osaka takes place on Japan‘s Yumeshimanaka island in Osaka Bay, spotlighting national pavilions that explore architecture, technology and sustainability.

    The seven-month-long event sees brand such as Woo Architects, Foster + Partners, Kengo Kuma & Associates and Trahan Architects creating pavilions for the UK, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the USA, respectively.

    Boston Design Week
    22 April to 4 May, USA

    Boston Design Week is a 13-day festival with a programme of in-person and online events, including talks, exhibitions, open studios and tours.

    Returning in 2025 with its 12th edition, the festival expects to host 70 events across five fields, including landscape design and outdoor life; architecture and urban planning; professional focus; design and social impact; and handmade design.
