Dezeen Showroom: work and leisure combine in designer Niels Diffrient’s eponymous lounge chair for furniture brand Humanscale.

The Diffrient lounge chair invites relaxed, supported sitting with its cocoon-like shape, reclined position and matching footrest, although unlike a typical lounge chair, it is also intended for use while working.

The Diffrient lounge chair supports both relaxation and work

The addition of a small integrated table optimised for devices turns the chair into a mellow workstation, liberated from the formality of the desk, while the fully articulating back and headrest allow the chair to support a range of postures.

It makes the chair versatile enough for both working and relaxing, and highly suitable for streaming, according to Humanscale, which is launching the chair at the 2025 Salone del Mobile in Milan.

The brand is offering the chair in range of textile finishes, as it strives to bring both comfort and aesthetics to the world of work.

“Crafted with high-end materials and textiles, Diffrient Lounge creates a new kind of lounging experience, elevating an important aspect of contemporary home life,” the brand continued.
