Dezeen Showroom: Italian brand Casalgrande Padana has branched out from designing tiles to create a range of tables with durable and antibacterial porcelain stoneware tops.

Decorative as well as hygienic, the tables in the Convivialis collection are topped with a single large-format tile – available various sizes – that gives them a seamless appearance.

The tabletops can be ordered in a variety of shapes, including rectangular, oval or circular for the dining tables and hexagonal and square for the coffee and side tables, and there is the option to include pull-out extensions for the rectangular dining tables.

Convivialis provides a way for interior designers to introduce the rich material details of stone, such as veining and transparency, into spaces.

“This interesting experiment teams design with innovation, turning the table from a simple functional element that fosters conviviality, sharing and dialogue into an accent feature that adds value to the whole setting,” said Casalgrande Padana.

The Convivialis tables are made with the brand’s Bios Antibacterial technology, a silver-based treatment that is permanently integrated into the ceramic to eliminate 99 per cent of bacteria.
