Dezeen Showroom: taking subtle cues from art deco architecture, this seating collection by design studio MUCNYC for workplace furniture brand Narbutas features soft, rounded shapes.

The Myami collection comprises a lounge chair alongside two- and three-seater sofas, all of which are designed to reduce the formal rigidity of the office environment.

Narbutas and MUCNYC intended for the arches of the sofa cushions and layering of lines and curves to reference art deco architecture.

“The Myami collection is inspired by the unique blend of elegance and energy found in classic art deco design,” said MUCNYC. “It is designed to make you feel instantly at home and allows everyone to create their own version of comfort and style.”

The Myami collection is made with multi-density cushions and other materials that are carefully selected for comfort while still delivering the hardiness necessary for commercial environments.

Narbutas recommends the seating for hospitality and public spaces as well as offices, and says the designs work well in a variety of layouts.
