Dezeen Showroom: created by designer Philippe Malouin for Italian brand Quadro Design, this tapware collection is stripped of all excess and designed around the simplest of gestures.

Malouin set out to ignore passing trends and distill the bathroom tap down to its essential form with the Hum collection, which includes surface-, wall-mounted and freestanding basin and bath taps as well as a shower kit.

All fittings in the collection are comprised of straight and curved cylindrical elements

Quadro Design says that the designer began work on Hum, which is made of corrosion-resistant brushed stainless steel, with “a simple moment of intuition”.

“Holding a stainless-steel cylinder in his hand, he was struck by its permanence and purity,” said QuadroDesign. “He then introduced a single contrasting curve – a gesture that shaped the entire collection.”

Hardware for sinks, baths and showers are all included

The Hum collection’s basin taps come in many variations, with different sizes and mixer placements.

In the shower kit, the minimalist approach yields a shower head that is striking for its compact size and simplicity.
