Dezeen Showroom: a tabletop shelf made from biomaterials that’s designed to act as “a personal altar for life’s essentials” has been released by Swedish design studio Interesting Times Gang.

Shelf Life – Interesting Times Gang‘s “latest and smallest creation” – has a continuous, undulating form that provides various nooks, niches and miniature platforms for storing and displaying various objects and essentials.

The brand manufactures two visually identical versions of the shelf made from two different sustainable materials.

One is a cellulose-based industrially compostable biocomposite and the other a biomaterial containing crushed Pacific oyster shells.

Five colourways are available, from a neutral beige to vivid primary red and blue and bright orange and purple.

“Shelf Life allows you to embrace your collector’s mentality and highlight what would otherwise be stuck deep down in a drawer,” said Interesting Times Gang.

“Whether setting the mood for your space, sparking conversation, or serving as a personal altar for life’s essentials, its form invites creativity and improvisation.”
