Dezeen Showroom: named after a Mallorcan port town known for exporting stone, Portopetro tiles by Spanish brand Azteca aim to capture the atmosphere of the Mediterranean.

Azteca took inspiration for the design of its Portopetro tiles from a particular type of natural Mediterranean hard stone that can be worked and carved, is minimally absorptive and has good resistance to compression.

Azteca’s Portopetro tiles are informed by a type of Mediterranean stone

All of these qualities are reflected in the Portopetro collection of indoor and outdoor porcelain tiles, according to Azteca.

The tiles are available in two colours – Sand or White – both of which feature a fine-grained appearance reminiscent of sandy shorelines.
