Promotion: software brand Adobe has launched the latest updates to its transformative ideation tool, Firefly Boards, giving users the ability to “define, direct and refine” their creative vision in one place.

Adobe Firefly Boards, available within Creative Cloud Pro, is an AI-powered platform that allows users to quickly develop moodboards to explore early ideas and create potential pitch materials, among other creative projects.

According to Adobe, the platform is revolutionary for creatives from all fields. For example, it enables product designers to quickly explore the look of potential products before the prototype stage and allows textile designers to visualise new materials.

Creatives now use Firefly Boards for everything, from developing a brand identity to collaborating remotely.

The platform is integrated with other Adobe services within its Creative Cloud Pro, including Photoshop and Premiere Pro and “offers AI-powered assistance throughout every stage of the content creation process – from ideation through production”.

As part of the platform’s latest updates, Adobe has introduced several new features, one of which allows users to quickly generate videos directly from their board, “unlocking a new dimension of creative storytelling”.

Users will also be able to link Adobe documents to their board, and the platform can also order their ideas into a presentation-ready layout in a single click. Any updates to images in a user’s Photoshop, for example, are simultaneously updated within their Firefly Boards when the image file is added.

Adobe explained that this is a potential game-changer for creatives who previously had to work around convoluted version control and permissions to collaborate on shared assets.

In April, the platform widened the creative palette that users can choose from when designing their boards, introducing access to generative AI models from the likes of OpenAI, Google and Black Forest Labs.

June’s latest updates expand this creative pool again with models launching from Pike, Runway, Luma and Ideogram.

Adobe explained that these additional models allow creatives to choose different styles for their moodboard, providing them more choice in “bringing their vision to life”.

The company said that these updates meet the demands of the current working practices. With ever-shortening deadlines, designers are faced with the challenge of establishing and showcasing their ideas quickly.

The updates to the platform allow individuals or creative teams to quickly visualise a project, speeding up the process.
Award-winning industrial and interior designer, Vojtek Morsztyn, said that he uses the platform for concept development and more efficient ideation.

Morsztyn explained that Adobe Firefly Boards has had a huge impact on his workflow, speeding processes up when working collaboratively or remotely.

“It’s a great tool for collaboration, especially when working remotely,” said Morsztyn. “The way it structures the project visually makes it easy to maintain consistency throughout the entire process.”

The designer explained that using the AI-powered software has also expanded his creative possibilities as a designer and enabled him to bridge the gap between creating an idea and its realisation.

When designing interiors, the platform has allowed him to combine design references, which he says might not have been possible manually.

“Once I started using AI, I quickly realised it wasn’t just a passing trend – it was the beginning of a completely new chapter for design,” he said. “One of the most exciting aspects is its ability to run creative processes like remixes and combining references.”
“This allows me to explore ideas and alterations that might not even be possible manually.”

For brand designer and creative director, Gizem Akdağ, the platform gave her the opportunity to create diverse brand identities using the platform’s powerful AI tool.

Similarly to Morsztyn, the platform allowed Akdağ to streamline her workflow, giving her more creative options and enabling her to develop a cohesive vision quicker than she’d done without it.

“Firefly Boards streamlines workflows by bringing different tools together in one platform, making it easier to iterate and turn abstract ideas into clear visuals,” said Gizem Akdağ. “What I love most about Firefly Boards is how it streamlines the process of crafting cohesive moodboards and transforming those styles into polished visuals.”

“It’s intuitive and flexible, bringing together tools for ideation, visualisation, and refinement – all in one place.”

According to the company, creators can easily switch between models, with transparency into which model is being used at all times.

Adobe Content Credentials are also attached to the AI-generated content, clearly indicating whether it was created with commercially safe Adobe Firefly models or with a partner model. Launched recently, Content Credentials are the equivalent of a digital signature, showing who made it, when and using what tools.

In addition to the Firefly Boards updates, Adobe has also launched updates to Firefly’s mobile app on Android and iOS, which aim to empower creators to make visual content “anytime, anywhere inspiration strikes”.
