Over the last year, I’ve carefully curated and maintained my tiny work-from-home space to make sure it fits my essentials and that things never feel out of place. I always figured my actual desk area might feel cramped or get messy, but it turns out my phone and laptop charger (which is under my desk) was the culprit in causing clutter.

As both an Android and Chromebook user, a USB-C charger is a must for charging my devices while I work. I was using the charger that my Chromebook came with and, needless to say, it caused so much cord clutter. The long cable made my desk area not only look messy, but I would also often get it stuck around the foot of my chair — I can’t count how many times I’d accidentally pull the charger out of the outlet whenever I’d move my chair. Thankfully, I stumbled upon a charger that serves as the exact stylish solution I needed for my workspace.

At first, I was simply intrigued by the look and color selection of this unique charger — I’d never seen one so chic before. But once I saw that it’s retractable, I knew I had to have it. To retract the cord, you simply push the center of the charger and voila! Mess cleared instantly. When I’m feeling focused while working or too lazy to bend over and push the retract button with a finger, I tap it lightly with my toe, which is extra convenient.

To state the obvious: This charger is a bit of a splurge compared to others. But its sleek look and easily retractable four-foot cord make it well worth the price. Best of all, it’s portable and can fit just about anywhere in your home. I’ve moved mine to the kitchen to charge my phone as I’m watching recipe videos, thrilled at not having to untangle it from a below-desk mess to do so. Not to mention, if I toss it in my bag to take with me somewhere (say, to work from a cafe), it doesn’t tangle itself into a ball on the way.

This charger provides 35 watts of charging and is compatible with all devices with USB-C ports, although you can use an adapter if you have a lightning or other kind of port.

If you’re stuck on which color to get, the Pucker and Oxide colors are especially fitting as a Valentine’s Day or Galentine’s gift, and there are three other neutral-yet-saturated colors to choose from that will fit just about any aesthetic (I personally love that the Pucker charger matches my chair and other items on my desk).

As a gift for your bestie, your significant other, or yourself, this charger eliminates the inevitable cord mess of a traditional charger while also giving your wall outlet the dash of whimsy and style you never knew it needed. Plus, it’s just a fun way to elevate a basic item that you use every single day — a perfect way to treat yourself.
