This is really a walk-by garden post. I spotted this interesting path during a neighborhood stroll. Square pavers make a zigzagging front walk from the curb through a garden bed and across the lawn. As I took in the scene, I felt I was being watched.

    Hello, old friends. I guess.

One last look, from both of us

Interesting trees catch my eye too, especially this big-daddy live oak, one of my favorites in my northwest Austin neighborhood. Just look at this charismatic beauty!

A gravel patio with cushioned chairs sits within the embrace of a horizontal limb, itself easily the diameter of a large tree trunk.

At another house, an enormous trunk arches over the ground, supporting three tree-sized limbs. What a treasure. The escarpment live oaks of Austin may not be the tallest trees, but they sure have character.
