Architect Fran Silvestre and designers Richard Hutten, Joe Doucet and Phoebe English, alongside design executive Dawn Lim have joined this year’s judging panel for Dezeen Awards 2025.

Dezeen Awards in partnership with Bentley is the world’s biggest awards programme across architecture, interior and design.

There’s less than one week left to submit your projects by the entry deadline, 29 May at 23:59 London time. Enter now for the chance to put your work in front of industry’s leading names and earn global recognition.

Read on to find out more about who will be judging this year’s entries:

Fran Silvestre joins Dezeen Awards 2025 judges
Spanish architect Silvestre will join the architecture panel for Dezeen Awards 2025

Spanish architect Silvestre, who founded studio Fran Silvestre Arquitectos, will join Patty Hopkins on the architecture panel for Dezeen Awards 2025.

Silvestre’s studio, which is known for its minimalist style, aims to create buildings that interact with its surroundings. Recent examples include a coastal villa with zigzagging stone volumes in Andalusia and a white house which winds through the Spanish landscape in Alicante.

The architect’s work often draws inspiration from Portuguese Pritzker Architecture Prize winner Álvaro Siza under whom he trained.

Richard Hutten will join this year's sustainability judging panel
Hutten is founder of Droog Design

Dutch designer Hutten, who founded Droog Design, will join Natsai Audrey Chieza on this year’s sustainability judging panel.

A leading figure in his field, Hutten pushes the boundaries of design and champions sustainability as an expert in circular economy. Notable projects include working with Dutch furniture brand Lensvelt in 2020 to create 27,000 new seats for Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport using the building’s existing resources.

He also recently contributed to a project dedicated to creating seating that doesn’t rely on polyurethane foam in collaboration with Rianne Koens and Turkish manufacturer Deberenn.

Dawn Lim judge this year's design entries for Dezeen Awards 2025
Lim is executive director of Design Singapore Council

Joining the design panel is Lim, who is executive director of Singapore‘s national design agency, Design Singapore Council.

Design Singapore Council focuses on design’s role in shaping emerging technology and sustainability. Their Future Impact exhibition, first launched in 2023, was recently presented for the third time at Milan design week 2025.

Lim also organises Singapore Design Week, an 11-day annual design festival with three design districts and more than 80 programmes exhibited across the island.

Joe Doucet will judge this year's sustainability entries for Dezeen Awards 2025
New York-based designer Doucet will join the sustainability panel

New York-based designer Doucet will join Hutten on this year’s sustainability judging panel.

Doucet leads his eponymous multidisciplinary design practice that aims to solve daily and societal challenges through design. Recent projects include an innovative climate-responsive paint that changes from white in summer to black in winter.

Doucet has been recognised widely for his work, winning a number of international awards including the 2024 Good Design Award. Last year, the designer’s wind turbines made for city streets and buildings were shortlisted for Dezeen Awards.

Phoebe English joins Dezeen Awards 2025 judges
English recently exhibited alongside Stella McCartney at the Design Museum

Joining Hutten and Doucet as a sustainability judge is English, founder of fashion brand Phoebe English Studio.

English combines textile craftsmanship alongside a pursuit to reduce its environmental impact, and has created a sustainably driven fashion brand. She recently exhibited alongside Stella McCartney at the Design Museum in London for its Future Observatory: Tomorrow’s Wardrobe exhibition.

Her notable collection Nothing New, crafted from fashion studio offcuts and sewn using zero-waste patterns, was shortlisted for the 2020 Beazley Designs of the Year award.
