Dezeen Showroom: Australian designer Alexander Lotersztain has collaborated with a Dallas airport on a modular public seating design, which is available from furniture brand Derlot.

Lotersztain worked with Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to create the Gateway collection, which aims to improve seating space efficiency in airports and comfort for passengers.

Intending to blend practicality and sleek aesthetics, Gateway has a modular design that can be arranged in different layouts to form a range of seating zones.

The long seating is divided by armrests, which are placed over plug sockets to provide device charging for each seat.

“The design of Gateway was envisioned from the ground up, considering travellers’ increasing need for on-demand connectivity while maintaining a safe, uncluttered aesthetic,” said Derlot.

“Whether placed in lounges, departure gates, hospitality areas, corporate spaces, or other public environments, Gateway adapts seamlessly to its surroundings,” the brand continued.

“The flexible configuration allows airports to adjust seating layouts to meet evolving capacity and functional demands, enhancing the overall passenger experience.”
