Dezeen Showroom: Swedish studio White Arkitekter worked with acoustic solutions brand Zilenzio to create a minimalist pendant lamp that combines lighting with sound dampening.

Named after the Japanese word for light, the Hikari lamp intends to bring a sense of clarity and calm to interiors, especially in areas such as break-out spaces within open-plan offices.

The Hikari pendant light doubles as an acoustic solution

According to Zilenzio, Hikari has impressive acoustic test results that come from its combination of recycled PET filling and fabric covering, while the choice of 29 fabrics and a total of 965 different colours allows for thorough personalisation.

“It is designed to define zones and create a sense of intimacy without adding physical barriers, making it ideal for modern and flexible environments,” said White Arkitekter product designer Olof Nordenson.

The upholstery is available in a wide choice of fabrics

“With its calm design language, Hikari is crafted to blend into its surroundings and enhance the overall atmosphere rather than dominate the space,” he added.

Hikari is available in three different sizes, either with or without a light fixture at its centre. The colour temperature of the light can be adjusted to three different settings.
