Dezeen Showroom: acoustic dampening and and sculptural design meet in this pendant light made from wool felt created by British brand Friends of Wilson.

The Linear light intends to bring calm to the workplace by subtly reducing noise through the use of wool felt.

Friends of Wilson founder Lynne Wilson created the lamp’s shade using material from a UK-based wool felt manufacturer, cutting it into a series of panels that together hint at the form of a more traditional pendant light.

“With its minimal parts and repeated forms, the beauty of Linear’s design comes about through the simplicity and logic of its construction,” said Wilson.

“Linear’s abstract, contemporary form is in synergy with our collection of unique design interior acoustic products – designs with beauty and meaning that transcend their practical function to become works of art,” she added.

The Linear light is designed to be easy to disassemble, reuse and recycle. It is available in a choice of 12 colours as standard.
