In this video produced by Dezeen for Fisher & Paykel, the brand’s premium kitchen appliances take centre stage at a holiday home in New Zealand.

Designed by local studio Roberts Gray Architects, the Wanaka SKI House is made up of a series of brick volumes linked by courtyards.

“This combination of voids, masses and apertures directs the experience and intentionally frames the site’s most beautiful aspects,” architect Jimmy Gray told Dezeen.

Guest bedrooms with private courtyards lie to the west of the site, while an open plan kitchen, living and dining area are housed at the rear.

“The kitchen was designed to work hard for the clients, who love cooking. While it is highly functional, it ultimately feels informal and welcoming,” said Gray.

The space features a Fisher & Paykel column refrigerator and freezer with custom oak cabinetry that connects the appliances with the rest of the timber-led interiors.

Meanwhile, a Fisher & Paykel oven and cooktop form the focal point of the space.

“The refined nature of the products allows us to hero them within the design of the kitchen,” explained Gray.

A sculptural island bench sits opposite. Clad in silver river marble, the light grey stone with dark brown veins is a nod to the rivers of the surrounding landscape.

The kitchen and living area open onto a terrace and lawn, which allows residents to make the most of the views of Buchanan Peaks and Lake Wanaka in the summer months.

Lightweight screens envelope sections of the house to provide privacy and protect residents from the region’s strong winds.

Founded in 1934, Fisher & Paykel is a New Zealand luxury appliance brand known for creating kitchen products that seamlessly integrate into the home to complement the surrounding interior.
