Dezeen Showroom: created by designer Alejandra Gandía-Blasco Lloret for Gan, Nomad rugs are designed to create a sense of home and comfort in the outdoors.
The Nomad rugs are designed from 100 per cent recycled PET plastic and are part of a collection that also includes poufs and stackable cushions.
Gandía-Blasco Lloret based the designs on – and named the collection after – the world’s nomadic peoples, who carry their belongings with them but use them to set up spaces that feel solid and cosy, even if they are only temporary.
The range is light and versatile, and with it Gandía-Blasco Lloret pursued “a double nomadism”, where objects could be easily moved within the same space or to a different place, always making a lot from a little.
There are four models of rug in the range, two in the Inuit colour scheme with pink and neutral tones and two in Tuareg, which combines whites, taupes and blues.
The various patterns are based on indigenous designs from India, where Gan manufactures, and based on samples created as the brand tested out how to use recycled PET on the loom.
