Dezeen Showroom: Australian workplace furniture brand Zenith took cues from a subculture originating in 1950s Britain when designing these playfully colourful tables.

The Teddy collection comprises tables and workstations, all of which nod to the fashions of the Teddy Boys, a youth subculture that saw young men dress in clothes inspired by both Edwardian fashion and rock and roll culture.

The tables’ tubular legs are a reference to the Teddy Boys’ drainpipe trousers, according to Zenith, while the robust crossbar references the straight hem of their Edwardian-style jackets.

A spectrum of powder-coated finishes are available to choose from, the vibrancy of which are keeping with the members’ sense of flamboyancy.

The result is a collection of tables and workstations that aim to be more playful than standard office furniture, while being both robust and economical through a minimal use of materials.

The Teddy range includes meeting and occasional tables, wall-mounted tables, standing-height tables, desks, workstations and a project table for collaboration, all available with a choice of glides or castors and options for integrated power outlets.

“By infusing the workspace with a touch of dandyish elegance, the Teddy range not only offers practical solutions but also brings a fun distinctive edge that disrupts the ordinary,” said Zenith.
