This week on Dezeen, Chinese architect Liu Jiakun was awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize for his buildings that aim to prioritise people over architectural style.

Liu became the 54th laureate and third architect from China to receive the award in its 46-year history, following Chinese-American architect IM Pei and Amateur Architecture Studio founder Wang Shu.

To celebrate his win, we looked back at 11 key projects from Liu’s four-decade-long career working exclusively in China, including cultural institutions, civic spaces, commercial buildings and urban landscapes.

In celebration of 100 years since the “arts décoratifs” exposition in Paris, we launched our latest editorial series – Art Deco Centenary, which will explore architecture and design of the art deco style.

So far in the series, we have created a quick guide explaining art deco and spotlighted the iconic Chrysler Building in New York, while London-based designer Tatjana von Stein explained how she uses the style in her interior designs.

In other news, Chinese smartphone company Infinix revealed a prototype tri-fold phone that can be used as a clip-on camera.

It functions as a conventional smartphone when outstretched and also bends vertically along two hinges to fold down to the size of a credit card, forming a mini dual-screen device that can be attached to gym equipment or a car dashboard.
