This weekend, one of my simplest joys was watching my little grandson delight in the discovery of our backyard fountain—splashing without a care in the world. A moment so small, yet so full of light, laughter, and life.

At the same time, my heart has felt heavy with the devastating news out of Texas. I’ve been praying for the families enduring every parent’s worst fear, and for the deep grief now woven into their community.

It can feel tender and strange to hold joy while others are experiencing such sorrow. But these quiet, ordinary moments—the ones that unfold in the sanctuary of our homes—are never trivial. They gently remind us to be present, to be grateful, even as we carry the weight of others’ heartache with us.
