XGIMI creates smart projector that “doesn’t need to be hidden away”

Chinese brand XGIMI has created a portable projector, which is intended as a design object and also functions as bluetooth speaker with ambient light mode.

XGIMI designed the projector as an attractive object with “minimalist industrial design” meaning that it doesn’t “need to be hidden away when not in use”.

“For a long period of time, projectors have been bulky and simply unaesthetic,” XGIMI explained.

The MoGo 3 Pro is designed to be compact and portable

The MoGo 3 Pro is a smaller and lighter version of XGIMI‘s RS Pro 3 projector, which was longlisted in last year’s Dezeen Awards. It weighs 1.1 kilograms and, at 205 millimetres tall is comparable in size to a Starbucks Venti cup.

When not in use the cylindrical object is meant to be discrete and sculptural. To use, the main body swivels and locks in place against an integrated side bracket, with a built-in speaker in the base.

Pivoting the main body of the projector against the bracket, allows for a 130-degree rotation to display full HD images up to a 120-inch screen size, either straight or at an angle.

The base of the unit provides 360-degree surround sound from built-in Harman/Kardon speakers.

The projector can also be used as a Bluetooth speaker and paired with smart phones and other devices. An Ambient Light Mode emits diffused coloured light, which can be synced with music.

The projector features image correction technology, ISA 2.0, which automatically corrects keystone distortion and performs autofocus to align the picture to the screen space or projection area, regardless of the projection angle.

“Intelligent Obstacle Avoidance” software prompts the projector to avoid obstacles, like shelving or windows, and crop to the best projection area available.

The goal of the MoGo 3 Pro is to turn “any space into a cinematic venue, whether at home or outdoors”, the brand said.

XGIMI only design and manufacture smart projectors, employing more than 700 R&D engineers at their HQ in Chengdu, China. The brand has over 1,000 patents for their technical innovations and inventions in the projector space.

Other smart technology recently featured on Dezeen includes the Galaxy smart ring by Samsung and Apple’s latest carbon-neutral smartwatch.
