This post is probably going to sound familiar…It seems that in our world today discontent is common. We can easily view many beautifully curated Instagram feeds, glossy magazine spreads, and endless home makeover shows. It can be easy to wonder if your home measures up. Your home has unfinished projects, outdated bathroom tile (ours is pink ~ including the toilet!), worn hand-me-down furniture, and you could start to feel embarrassed or ashamed of the home God has given you.

“But friend, let me remind you: your home is enough. Perfectly good enough.“
It doesn’t need to look like a magazine cover to be beautiful. It doesn’t need to be trendy to be meaningful. And it certainly doesn’t need to meet anyone else’s standards to be exactly what you and your family need.
Home is for Living
It’s easy to forget sometimes: an interior designer isn’t going to live in your house. A magazine editor isn’t coming over to inspect the color palette you chose. Your home is for you and your family. It’s the place where you gather around the table, pile onto the couch for movie night, celebrate birthdays, share hurts and disappointments, and live your very real, very beautiful life. Perfection isn’t the goal. Comfort, belonging, and love are.
“Decide to believe that it doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful. If you want to fully use your house, when you’re preoccupied with the fact that your sofa has a broken leg, or you’re just embarrassed by the state of it, you’re not going to fully use your home.” ~ Myquillyn Smith

You all have seen this photo many times. Like many people, we had the classic, over-baked blobby potato of a couch that many of you may have, or may have had. Even with the hideous couch, popcorn ceilings, and very dated wallpaper, we invited people into our home!
Celebrate What You’ve Already Built
Every little thing you’ve done to make your home your own is worth celebrating. That wall you painted? That lamp you found at the thrift store? The quilt your grandmother passed down? These things matter. They create layers of meaning that no expensive renovation or designer sofa could ever create or replace. Take a step back and really see your home, not for what it’s missing, but for what it already is. You may have read the rant article I wrote a while back called Give Your House a Chance where this sentiment is fully fleshed out.
Recipe for a dream home:
A place of warmth.
A place of gathering.
A place of safety.
A place that’s deeply, uniquely yours.
There’s Always Room for Growth, and That’s Okay
Loving your home today doesn’t mean you have to stop dreaming or planning for tomorrow. It’s perfectly fine to have goals, ideas, and future projects in mind. But don’t let the unfinished projects keep you from enjoying the now.

You can be proud of your home as it is, while you look forward to what it will become.
The heart of a home isn’t found in a perfectly styled shelf or a freshly remodeled kitchen. It’s found in the people who live there, the laughter that echoes through the rooms, and the memories you are writing on hearts.

So when you look around today, remember: your home is enough.
Not because it’s finished.
Not because it’s flawless.
But because it’s yours.
And that is more than enough.
“Your home doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful—it is beautiful because it is yours.” Until next time,
Take care,
Rachel
